New Japan Radio (NJR) has developed a new frond-end module NJG1159PHH-A for 1.5 GHz GNSS modules (including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo) that is suitable for automotive devices, and announced the beginning of mass production. This module conforms to automotive qualification standards such as AEC-Q100 and so on.

General Description
In recent years, wireless communication applications have increased depending on the expansion of telematics and GNSS applications in automotive electronics market. The requirements for conformity to automotive standards and reduction of mounting area has been increasing.

In GNSS applications, the GNSS signals from satellite are weak. In order to improve the reception sensitivity, it is necessary to remove the interference waves from various communication equipment by filter, and amplify the GNSS signals by LNA. So the saving mounting area of GNSS block has been required, and the requirement for modules has been increasing.

In order to satisfy these requirements, we developed the automotive grade GNSS Frond-end Module NJG1159PHH-A.

NJG1159PHH-A can remove the interference waves by SAW filter and amplify the GNSS signals by LNA with low NF, so it is possible to improve the reception sensitivity and reduce the mounting area with small and thin package. Furthermore, it conforms to AEC-Q100 and supports VDA6.3 process audit of VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry). And PPAP document is also available upon requirement.

Features

■Reception sensitivity for GNSS signals has been improved
NJG1159PHH-A can remove the interference waves by the SAW filter with low loss and high out-band rejection characteristics in the front stage, and can amplify the GNSS signals by the LNA with low Noise Figure (NF) in the second stage.

It is possible to amplify the weak GNSS signals from the satellite with low noise by the SAW filter with low loss and high out-band rejection and the low NF LNA. Since NJG1159PHH-A improves GNSS signal reception sensitivity, it contributes to improving the positioning accuracy and shortening the positioning time.

■High reliability, small package
Automotive device, for example SAW filter unit, the package size is usually 3.0 x 3.0 mm, but NJG1159PHH-A built SAW filter and LNA into highly reliable and small hermetic sealed package of 1.5 x 1.1 mm. So it contributes to reduction of mounting area.

■Automotive specification
Support AEC-Q100 grade 2 and VDA6.3, and PPAP document is available.
