Description

Recently automotive head units are not only for playing music but also for performing as a car console. Market demand for voice signal processing such as Hands-free talk and voice control functions on the head units have started growing in a car console. Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, (AKM), has released the AK7707, an audio/voice processor with digital Audio Hub that performs voice processing in addition to audio processing.

As it is a multi-core DSP (Digital Signal Processor), AKM’s original simple voice recognition algorithm can be used. A high performance noise canceller and echo canceller process can be used simultaneously, including the addition of surround sound. In addition, the AK7707 includes six asynchronous stereo SRC’s.

The market is now demanding a reduced routing load to the SoC and DSP as audio sources diversify and complicate such as addition of Radio, CD/DVD, Navigation, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. AKM introduce a solution with the AK4601, an analog Audio Hub, that enables simultaneous processing of sounds and voices. With this solution, analog/digital input and output of an automotive audio system can be controlled centrally enabling to support various systems flexibly.

* About Audio Hub

An Audio Hub is capable of unifying, organizing and combining audio sources in different sampling frequencies or formats such as for Radio, CD/DVD, Navigation, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and it accomplishes highly flexible signal path connections. The Audio Hub is AKM’s original audio architecture that enables simple and flexible system designing.

AK7707VQ Features

● High Performance HiFi 2 Core and AKM’s Original DSP Core
The 7707 integrates a one HiFi 2 DSP by Cadence and two of AKM’s original DSPs that process sample by sample.

● Supporting Multi Channels by Digital Audio Hub and SRC
The AK7707 has multiple clock settings, six asynchronous SRCs, and eight TDM supporting ports for each input and output, (Input: max 64ch, Output: max 64ch, in TDM Mode).

● Heat Dissipation in a Small Package
The AK7707 is housed in a 64-pin HTQFP package (10mmx10mm), which is suitable for compact system design with its good head dissipation.

AK4601VQ Features

● Centralized Control of Analog/Digital Input and Output by Adopting, “Audio Hub”, Architecture
The 4601 adopts an, “Analog Audio Hub”, architecture that connects two stereo A/D converters (ADCs), one monaural ADC and three stereo D/A converter, (DACs), via bus. Analog/digital input and output can be controlled easily since both the internal path connection, and the connection to external LSIs can be easily set via registers. The serial audio interface for external audio devices has 6 channels for each input and output, (Input: max 20ch, Output: max 20ch, in TDM Mode).

● Accomplish a Total Audio Solution with the AK7707
A complete audio solution that simultaneously processes surround sound, high performance hands-free communication, in addition to analog in/output data processing, can be provided by adding a varied interface to the AK7707 with the AK4601.

● Built-in 32-bit D/A Converter with VELVET SOUND Technology
The AK4601 has a high-quality sound with three stereo 32-bit D/A converters that adopt AKM’s VELVET SOUND technology which have received major praise in high-end audio. Up to 192kHz/32bit PCM input is supported. Multi-channel systems can be easily composed by adding external DACs (AK443X series).
