Renesas Electronics America Enhances High-Performance Embedded Development Frontier with New RZ/G1 Microprocessor Options
2016-12-16 | ReturnSANTA CLARA, Calif., December 16, 2016 — Renesas Electronics America, a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, has expanded its powerful RZ microprocessor (MPU) Family to address the high-performance needs of a wider range of HMI-based applications. With the addition of the new RZ/G1N and RZ/G1H Groups of MPUs, Renesas is making it easier for embedded engineers to identify the best-fit solution for their HMI applications – ranging from elegant touch-panel displays for home appliances, to Industrial Ethernet masters with integrated HMI, to embedded computer vision systems that enable artificial intelligence.
“As the demand for more intelligent machines and enhanced user interfaces continues to grow, embedded design companies must meet a dizzying variety of changing application needs within specific time and budget criteria,” said Semir Haddad, Director of Marketing, MCU and MPU Product Solutions, Renesas Electronics America. “With the addition of the RZ/G1N and RZ/G1H MPUs, customers now have the flexibility to scale from low-power MPU system implementations all the way to the ultra-high-end, all within the RZ/G Series.”
About the New RZ/G1N, RZ/G1H Groups
Similar to the RZ/G1M Group – yet at a lower price point – the new RZ/G1N MPUs feature dual ARM® Cortex®-A15 CPU cores operating at 1.5 GHz and 10,500 DMIPS performance. Interfaces such as USB 3.0, PCI Express, and SATA add versatility and connectivity to the device. With an 800 megahertz (MHz) 32-bit wide DDR3 external memory interface, a PowerVR® SGX544MP2 3D graphics engine, a dedicated Full HD H.264 video codec, these devices also bring stunning visual presence to customers’ end products.
The new RZ/G1H MPU is the highest performance member of the RZ/G Series. The RZ/G1H delivers an industry-leading 25,528 DMIPS embedded performance through its quad ARM Cortex-A7 and quad Cortex-A15 CPU architecture. This performance is emboldened even further thanks to two full high definition (FHD) H.264 video codecs, four video inputs and outputs, a PowerVR G6400 3D Graphics Engine, and 64 bits of 800 MHz DDR3 external memory interface. Such massive computational horsepower lets designers take system integration and performance to an entirely new level and create products that are both truly revolutionary and maximize value.
Availability
Samples of the RZ/G1N and RZ/G1H MPUs are available now. (Availability is subject to change without notice.)
