Fujitsu announces that renowned MRI testing facility, MAGNETIC RESONANCE SAFETY TESTING SERVICES, confirms that Fujitsu UHF RFID Linen Tags are proven suitable for use in MRI systems
2016-10-25 | ReturnUsing state-of-the-art MRI testing facilities, MRSTS was able to characterize both the effects of worst case MRI exposures, as well as possible MRI related issues (magnetic field interactions, heating, and artifacts) using its sophisticated techniques. Based on the results, MRSTS recommended the labeling MR Conditional at 1.5- and 3.0-Tesla MRI. Notably, this is the highest rating that can be applied for an RFID device. The results of tests conducted on the RFID Line Tags have been posted on the MRI safety resource website, http://www.mrisafety.com/.
“We were very impressed with the Fujitsu Linen RFID Tab. The construction of the tag and selection of internal components make it ideal for use in hospital garments and linens used in and around MRI systems”, says Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D., Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology and Medicine, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. “We were also surprised by the relatively small image artifact generated by the tag. The measured maximum image artifact of 2 millimeters under worst case MRI conditions will substantially reduce the impact on the diagnostic use of MRI.”
The rugged Fujitsu WT-A533 RFID Linen Tags are used worldwide in a multitude of applications, including healthcare garments, scrubs and flat lines. The rugged WT-A533 Linen tag is designed for industrial laundry applications and able to survive hundreds of washings under very harsh washing conditions. Confirmation by independent testing performed by MRSTS expands the product’s usability to include sheets and gowns that are actually present inside of the MRI equipment.
