NVE Introduces Ultralow-Power Rotation Sensors

2016-09-21 | Return
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—September 21, 2016—NVE Corporation (Nasdaq: NVEC) today announced the introduction of the ADT001-10E and ADT002-10E Ultralow-Power Rotation Quadrant Sensors.

The new parts are based on NVE’s unique Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology to minimize power consumption and size. The sensors provide two binary digital outputs to accurately indicate the absolute rotational quadrant of a rotating magnet. The two outputs are 90 degrees out of phase to also provide directional information.

An additional output indicates a fault if the magnetic field is too high for accurate measurements.

Ultralow Power

The sensors operate over a power supply range of 2.4 to 5.5 volts. Typical power consumption is less than 2 microamps at 2.4 volts.

Precise and Repeatable

The sensors indicate absolute position, are self-referencing, and inherently nonvolatile. ADT00x sensors are extremely precise and repeatable, featuring angular precision/repeatability of plus-or-minus three degrees.

Wide Air-Gap Range

With a magnetic field operating range of 30 to 200 Oersteds, the sensors can operate over a over a wide range of magnet distances using inexpensive magnets.

Ultraminiature

An ultraminiature 2.5 by 2.5 by 0.8 millimeter TDFN6 surface-mount package makes the sensors ideal where space is a premium.

Two Versions

The ADT001 is optimized for edge-sensitive applications and the ADT002 for absolute position. The ADT001 has high hysteresis for high noise immunity in applications such as speed sensing and counting rotations. The ADT002 is low hysteresis to provide accurate, absolute rotational quadrant.

Popular Applications

Applications for the new parts include water meters, rotational speed sensors, and rotational position sensors.

Available Now

The ADT001-10E and ADT002-10E are in stock for immediate delivery. The suggested price is $2.48 each in quantities of 1000.

Evaluation Kits

Evaluation kits are available for the new sensor. The battery-powered kit, designated the AG932-07E, contains an ADT002-10E sensor, a split-pole magnet that can be manually turned, and circuitry and LED indicators for the sensor outputs and for quadrant indications. The suggested kit price is $90.00.
