Toshiba Launches Video Processor for High Resolution Automotive Panels
2016-08-25 | ReturnTOKYO–Toshiba Corporation's (TOKYO: 6502) Storage & Electronic Devices Solutions Company today announced the launch of “TC90175XBG,” a new addition to its line-up of video processors for high resolution automotive displays. Sample shipments start today, with mass production scheduled to start in the first half of FY2017.
Driver support information displays are increasingly used in vehicles, for applications other than navigation, prompting demand for larger, higher resolution panels.
Toshiba’s new processor “TC90175XBG” has a pin layout compatible with the already launched “TC90195XBG,” which supports composition of two pictures in a single display. “TC90175XBG” has a reduced frame memory and targets applications that do not require two-picture composition. Users can select the ICs according to desired application.
The new video processor supports Full HD (1920x1080 resolution) panels, improving on the support for wide VGA (800x480) of the company’s earlier products*1. It can also simultaneously output two digital video signals, to a Full HD panel and a wide XGA panel; earlier products*1 output only one signal.
Going forward, Toshiba will continue to expand its line-up of automotive video processing ICs to meet growing demand.
Main Features
>Support for HD resolution panels
Connects to Full HD (1920x1080) high resolution panels.
Pin layout is compatible with the current “TC90195XBG,” allowing users to select the IC that suits their applications.
>Picture separation mode and two independent outputs
It can separate the signals and output them independently to two panels, at resolutions including 1920x1080 (LVDS output) and 1366x768 (LVTTL output).
>Built-in new picture improver circuit
A new “area adaptive gamma correction circuit” improves contrast.
It realizes a level of contrast quality surpassing that of Toshiba’s earlier products*2.
*1: Compared with “TC90197XBG” and Toshiba’s other video processors that support wide VGA (800x480).
*2: Compared with Toshiba’s other video processors, including “TC90195XBG.”
