IDT Wireless Charging Technology Powers China’s New Ticwatch
2016-06-21 | ReturnSAN JOSE, Calif., June 21, 2016 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) (NASDAQ: IDTI) announced today that its wireless charging technology is powering the new generation of Ticwatch, a cutting-edge smartwatch from the Chinese company Mobvoi. The second-generation Ticwatch, introduced in China earlier this month, integrates IDT’s leading wireless power technology for convenient, wire-free charging.
The Ticwatch features advanced voice recognition and natural language processing via its Chumenwenwen service. Users can control their Ticwatch by motion, voice, gesture and a “tickle strip” that lets users scroll without blocking the screen.
Mobvoi selected the IDT® P9220 receiver for the smartwatch and the IDT P9235 transmitter for the charging pad. The company determined that the IDT solution provided greater integration and higher efficiency than competitive offerings.
“Innovators like Mobvoi are turning to IDT to help cut the cord and enable the convenience and reliability of wire-free charging,” said Chris Stephens, general manager of IDT’s Wireless Power Division. “The Ticwatch underscores how IDT wireless charging solutions can be used in ultra-compact, thermally challenged applications like smartwatches and fitness and health monitors.”
“IDT’s wireless charging solution is not only for high-power transfer products, but is also very suitable for low-power products like smartwatches,” said Zhifei Li, CEO of Mobvoi. “Thanks to the flexible system architecture, we can optimize hardware and software freely to achieve very high efficiency with any desired load current while maintaining system stability at a high level. By adopting the IDT solution and Mobvoi’s innovative wireless charging management algorithms (TIChargeTM), Ticwatch achieves best-in-class wireless charging efficiency and charges the battery rapidly with good thermal performance.”
In addition to the wireless power chips selected for the Ticwatch, IDT also offers a complete wireless power kit that makes it easy for engineers to integrate wireless charging capabilities into compact designs with charging requirements of 3 W or less.
