Toshiba Launches H Bridge Driver IC for Low-Voltage (2.5V) Drive
2016-03-28 | ReturnTOKYO– Toshiba Corporation’s (TOKYO: 6502) Semiconductor & Storage Products Company today announced the launch of "TC78H620FNG", an addition to its line-up of H bridge[1] driver ICs for the DC brushed motors and stepping motors used in the mobile battery-drive equipment (cameras and small printers) and home appliances. Mass production starts today.
The new product adopts a four-port interface control using the PHASE signal and the ENABLE signal. The existing product, "TC78H610FNG" with standard interfaces, needed four ports for full step control of the stepping motor. The new product "TC78H620FNG" secures control with three ports. With the high functionality of the set, there are cases where the lack of control ports of the MCU is an issue. This product will contribute to solving the problem.
The new product is compatible with low-voltage drive (for motor drive: 2.5V and above, for logic control: 2.7V and above), and thus suitable for mobile devices (cameras and small printers) with a 3.7V lithium-ion battery drive.
Main Features
- The PHASE and ENABLE interface signals secure full step drive of the stepping motor by three control ports.
- It can control two DC brushed motors or one stepping motor.
- A small package (SSOP16) downsizes the mounting area and reduces the cost of the board.
- Abnormality detection functions (over current detection, thermal shutdown circuit, and under voltage lockout circuit) are incorporated to improve safety in driving the motor.
- Consumption current of 0μA (typ.) in standby mode is realized.
- Shoot-through current protection is incorporated. The motor can be controlled without considering the dead time in switching output ON and OFF.
