[Description]
As smartphones and tablets have many functions and become small and thin, the area to implement an electronic device becomes very narrow. And the demand for that 3-axis electronic compass realizes small size and high performance is more important. In these conditions, Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM**) has launched the AK09916C which follows AK09911C and is smaller package size.

● The world‘s smallest class*
The package size (area) of the AK09916C is reduced to approximately 65% of the AK09911C,AKM’s smallest electronic compass until now. (*According to a February 1, 2016 AKM study)
● Built in magnetic sensitivity adjustment circuit
The AK09916C has built-in magnetic sensitivity adjustment circuit, so users don‘t need to adjust magnetic sensitivity by software.
● High resolution
In comparison with the AK09911C, the AK09916C’s resolution is improved from 0.6uT/LSB to 0.15uT/LSB.
● Wide measurement range and One-chip electronic compass architecture
The AK09916C features wide measurement range for an electronic compass, the same as the AK8963 and AK09911. This wide measurement range enables the compass to be less affected by magnetic interference from other parts within the portable device, providing greater freedom in device design by enabling more flexibility in the placement of the compass on the printed circuit board.
The AK09916C consists of AKM‘s exceptional one-chip electronic compass architecture with a 3-axis magnetic sensor comprising Si monolithic Hall elements and a magnetic concentrator. The simpler processing and assembly of this architecture not only eliminates orthogonal imprecision but also enables efficient mass production using conventional semiconductor manufacturing equipment to maintain stable supply even as demand grows.
