Wind farms on-and off-shore can reduce installation time with TE Connectivity’s new easy-to-use high voltage joint installations

The new-to-market Raychem PHVJ from TE Connectivity supports the expansion of safe, sustainable power generation, through built-in flexibility and lighter customer-centric design.

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, now offers energy customers greater flexibility and reduced installation time for high voltage solutions in wind farms on- and off-shore with its new-to-market Raychem High Voltage Dry Plug-in Inner Cone Joints (TE's Raychem PHVJ).

“We have developed a unified, one-stop-shop solution for partial discharge detection and voltage. TE's Raychem PHVJ meet customer needs for flexibility and their ease of installation is a game changer,” says Alexander Eigner, senior manager, product management, high-voltage solutions. “No specialist tools are needed to install them, and they are significantly lighter. In addition to these new features, this innovation performs to high quality standards, making it a particularly appealing addition to the market.”

This new development diversifies the range of wind energy solutions TE Connectivity offers the fast-growing wind energy market and responds to customer needs for easy installation.

Corrosion- and touch-proof, they can be used in temporary or permanent installations. Their flexible design means that they can be installed horizontally or vertically, and they also have fixation points so they can be mounted to walls or racks. This further simplifies the steps the installer needs to take when planning and implementing projects.

Now with both RSTF outer cone and PHVJ inner cone variants, TE supports the global energy industry in advancing wind generation onshore and offshore. TE's Raychem PHVJ are designed for up to 145 kV and support reliable, sustainable power generation. This innovation has a wide range of potential applications, including underground power networks, wind power generation, electrical substations, and energy storage solutions.

They are compliant with all relevant standards and testing (IEC 60840, IEC 63026, IEC 62271-209), compatible with Kries voltage and partial discharge detection systems and can be provided with integrated voltage tap where required.
