NJR to enter mass production of ultra-wideband SPDT RF switch NJG1801BKGC-A conforming to AEC-Q100 Grade1, VDA and other automotive qualification standards

New Japan Radio (NJR) has developed a new ultra-wideband SPDT RF switch for automotive devices, and announced the beginning of mass production. This RF switch conforms to automotive qualification standards such as AEC-Q100 and so on.

General Description

In recent years, automotive RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) application has not only used the conventional Sub-GHz band, but also considered a new security system using 2.4GHz band BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) for the next generation smart car access or UWB (Ultra Wide Band) up to 8.5GHz.

The automotive component mounting increasingly requires the packages with 0.5mm pitch or more and wettable flank plating for reliable solder mounting and introduction of automatic visual inspection.

Although it is necessary to conform to AEC-Q100 automotive standard, it is required to support operating temperature of 125℃ because actual mounting place is very high temperature.
To meet these requirements, we have developed an ultra-wideband SPDT RF switch NJG1801BKGC-A that supports AEC-Q100 grade 1 (operating temperature -40 to +125℃).

The NJG1801BKGC-A has good characteristics in a very wide frequency range from Sub-GHz to 8.5GHz. And it has package with 0.5mm pitch and wettable flank plating, so it is easy to use and allows the introduction of automatic visual inspection.

The NJG1801BKGC-A conforms to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 and also supports VDA 6.3 process audit developed by German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). And the PPAP documents are also available to customer request.

Features

Wideband operation
The NJG1801BKGC-A has good characteristics such as insertion loss of 0.35 dB to 0.6 dB and isolation of 18 dB to 28 dB in a wide frequency range of 0.3 GHz to 8.5 GHz.
This feature allows it to be used not only for RKE-related applications but also for WiFi of 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz band.

0.5mm pitch and wettable flank plated package for automotive
The package with 0.5mm pitch or more and wettable flank plating for automotive makes it possible to obtain reliable solder mounting and introduce automatic visual inspection.

Wide operating temperature range, conforming to automotive standards
 The NJG1801BKGC-A conforms to AEC-Q100 Grade1 (-40 to 125℃).
For example, since the BCM (Body Control Module) with RKE function has many functions, the heat of the processor peripheral parts becomes very high. The NJG1801BKGC-A supports an operating temperature of 125℃, so the applications will be wider.
The NJG1801BKGC-A conforms to VDA6.3 and also supports PPAP documents.
