NJR to launch a general-purpose SPDT switch NJG1818K75 with 1.8V operating voltage for WiFi 6/6E

2021-07-20 | Return
NJR (New Japan Radio) developed a general-purpose SPDT switch “NJG1818K75” with a low operating voltage of 1.8V for WiFi 6/6E (to 7.125GHz) of the next generation Wi-Fi and the mass production started.

Development Background

Since the announcement of WiFi 6E, which is an extension standard of 6th generation WiFi, the 6GHz (5.925 to 7.125GHz) of WiFi 6E's extended frequency band has begun to be released in countries around the world. Because this 6GHz band is difficult to interfere with WiFi 4 and WiFi 5, it is also an important unlicensed frequency band. As a result, WiFi 6 / 6E support has begun to spread rapidly in the WiFi market, and the demand for RF devices up to 7.125GHz is also increasing.

General Description

As a general-purpose RF switch for WiFi 6/6E, the NJG1818K75 supports a low operating voltage of 1.8V and achieves low insertion loss, high speed switching and high linearity in the wide band of 1.0 to 7.125GHz, especially in the 6GHz band. It is the best RF switch for communication terminals with WiFi, especially mobile terminals requiring low power consumption. Moreover, it supports a wide operating voltage range from 1.6V to 5.0V, and can support a variety of power supply modes.
The NJG1818K75 has a built-in DC blocking capacitor for the RF port and adopts a small package of 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm. These features contribute to the reduction of the mounting area.

Features

■ Supports low operating voltage of 1.8V and has industry-leading low loss characteristics in the 6GHz band
The NJG1818K75 achieves high power handling of + 31dBm with a low operating voltage of 1.8V. It is especially suitable for mobile terminals requiring low power consumption. In addition, the low insertion loss characteristic of 0.55dB is 0.2dB lower than other companies' equivalent products in the Wifi6e's extended band of 6GHz band (5.925 to 7.125GHz), which is the top level in the industry*1.

■ Supports a wide operating voltage range from 1.6V to 5.0V
The wide operating voltage range of 1.6V to 5.0V supports direct power supply to the switch from external power sources such as batteries. That can solve the problem of chipset supply power line shortage due to increased functions of communication terminals.

■ Built-in external capacitor and small package
The NJG1818K75 has a built-in DC blocking capacitor for the RF port and adopts a 1.0mm x 1.0mm ultra-compact package. These features contribute to the reduction of the mounting area. It is the best RF switch for communication terminals that support WiFi 6 / 6E of MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) using many switches in particular.
